Employees in most locations can choose from three different Preferred Provider options through Aetna’s nationwide network. Each option provides coverage for network services, and differ only by the level of deductible and out-of-pocket maximums. Depending on location, an HMO is offered through Kaiser. Post-retirement medical coverage is also provided.
The Vision Service Plan (VSP) provides for annual exams as well as frames, lenses or contacts for routine vision needs. Also included is a separate program for employees who may need special glasses for video display terminals. Post-retirement vision coverage is also provided.
The MetLife Dental plan provides comprehensive dental and orthodontic coverage, with an option to use Preferred Providers for additional savings. Depending on location, a dental HMO through UnitedConcordia is also available. Post-retirement dental coverage is also provided.
Flexible Spending Accounts
A Solar Turbines Health Care and/or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account helps employees keep more of their pay and spend less of it in taxes — all year long. A Health Care Spending Account allows employees to use pretax dollars to pay for many of the health care expenses not covered by medical, dental and vision plans, including deductibles and co-payments. Using the Dependent Care Spending Account, employees can use pretax funds to pay for eligible dependent care expenses.
Life Insurance, AD&D (Accidental Death and Dismemberment) and Business Travel Accident Insurance
Employees are automatically covered by Solar’s company-paid insurance programs:Life Insurance equal to two times base salary. Employees may also purchase additional life insurance up to four times their base salary. Coverage may also be purchased for a spouse or dependent child. AD&D Insurance equal to one times base salary. Employees may also purchase additional AD&D insurance up to seven times their base salary. Coverage may also be purchased for a spouse or dependent child. Business Travel Accident insurance equal to five times base salary.
On your date of hire as a regular full-time employee, you are immediately eligible to participate in a competitive 401(k) plan. Each calendar year, you may contribute up to the annual allowable maximum to the plan (determined by IRS regulations). Contributions can be either pre-tax or Roth 401(k), which gives you the opportunity to take advantage of the best tax savings strategy for you while saving for retirement. The plan offers a variety of investment options and the convenience of changing elections at any time through online or telephone interactive services. The company will match a portion of your contribution.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Active Solar employees and their families have access to life-management services from Solar’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Horizon Health. Solar’s EAP offers services designed to help busy employees and their family members better manage life’s challenges. Horizon Health offers confidential counseling and referrals for personal, family, financial, health or work-related problems and legal advice to employees and their enrolled family members.
Active lifestyles are encouraged through both on-site fitness centers (where available) as well as access to discounted fitness center membership for you and your family with either the 24-Hour Fitness Center network or over 1,500 facilities nationwide through GlobalFit.
