Solar offers an Apprenticeship Program for Master Machinists, Tool & Die Makers, Sheet Metal Mechanics and Precision Machine Tool Mechanics. Apprentices will learn manufacturing skills in a positive, professional shop floor environment and will be given ample opportunity to gain the skills, abilities and education they need to contribute to their personal success as well as the future success of the company.
This four year Apprenticeship Program requires working in the manufacturing shops using the same materials, tools and equipment as a skilled journeyman in addition to receiving after hours classroom instruction during the length of the apprenticeship. You must also have an interest in learning to repair sophisticated plant equipment and machinery, have a strong mechanical aptitude and a deep interest in "working with your hands".

Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS)
Safety and Sustainability are critical components of the Solar/ CAT strategic Vision 2020. EHS organizations are key to our mission of Zero Injuries and responsible stewardship through land diversion. EHS acts as consultants to manufacturing, engineering and field service activities through development of training and promotion of specific targets and goals. They conduct risk assessments, such as inspections, audits, material and process reviews, and workplace monitoring. In addition, they help design and promote a wide range of control measures. They implement EHS regulatory programs; interface with regulators; are involved with legislative activities; and support facilities during external EHS inspections and audits.
Solar's Facilities Organization partners with engineering and operations for strategic planning of new facilities and improvement of existing facilities. Additionally, the Facilities Organization has ownership of regulatory compliance, land diversion and recycling strategies.
Solar maintains hundreds of Field Service Representatives located in 37 field offices worldwide. This highly specialized team provides technical assistance for any of the electrical, mechanical, controls and process issues associated with client turbomachinery installation.
Finance and Accounting
Solar’s Finance organization is valued as a business partner through leadership and excellence in Financial Services and Business Information. Our accounting department has exciting opportunities for accountants who are mobile, want to be challenged, are interested in financial statement preparation and analysis, product costing, inventory accounting, budgeting and forecasting. We develop our accountants to become future leaders, and look for individuals with strong communications skills, interpersonal skills and leadership experience.
Solar’s Human Resources professionals are business partners building a global competitive advantage through people and culture. Our Human Resource professionals specialize in employee relations. In addition, they design, develop and administer compensation and benefits, learning and development, performance management, and succession planning.
Solar’s Information Technology professionals consult with various business units and customers worldwide to define and analyze their needs. They design, construct, implement and integrate systems that can include Internet and client/server technologies, critical mainframe applications and telecommunication networks. They also have opportunities in development, technical support, training, customer support, PC software or installation.
Our Logistics Group is a visionary and vigilant team of professionals leading the way to transportation systems and services excellence in the 21st Century. The team provides services for a safe, efficient and cost effective transportation system for inbound components and outbound customer project cargo in an environment where our employees are valued and challenged; all enabling both growth and top tier performance.
Solar’s manufacturing professionals work in operations management, manufacturing engineering, assembly planning, test operations and quality. With a focus on excellence in quality, velocity and safety, manufacturing and operations include engine manufacturing, from subassembly to engine assembly, packaging operations and refurbishment and overhaul operations.
Our marketing team develops solutions to showcase Solar's products and services. They also promote the value of Solar worldwide by analyzing and responding to the needs of our customers by forecasting and understanding industry trends in the markets we serve.
The office of Public Affairs has corporate responsibility for Employee Communications, Media Relations and Community Relations. The communications team develops communication strategies and objectives and provides all of the corporate communication media. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on disseminating corporate information and Solar communication issues of corporate and/or public concern. Activities include developing corporate communications and related materials, working with the news media, handling community donations and representing Solar within the community.
Supply Chain Management
We are continually developing a world-class lean supply chain with a relentless focus on quality, cost, delivery performance and lead-time reduction. Opportunities to work within the supply chain management of Solar exist in procurement, materials planning, master scheduling and quality control.
As a member of our sales team you would have direct technical selling responsibility in selecting Solar’s total turbomachinery systems to meet customer needs. Working in conjunction with many other departments across the company you would be responsible for selecting the optimium scope and preparing proposals to meet specific customer requirements.
Solar’s craftsmen manufacture, assemble and overhaul Solar’s engines and packages with an eye on velocity, safety and quality. From specialized tooling to Solar’s most advanced products, production personnel play a critical role in meeting Solar’s customer demand. Solar has opportunities in skilled trades which include Master Machinists, Machinists, Gas Turbine Mechanic, Precision Machine Tool Mechanics, Industrial Electronic Electricians, Quality Test Technicians, Development Test Technicians, Tool and Die Makers, Structures Package Mechanics, Engine Mechanics. All hourly applicants must pass the Caterpillar Basic Aptitude Test.
