Using the latest technology, our engineers develop, design and manufacture gas turbine engines, gas compressors, gears and many other critical sections of our engines.  As an Engineer at Solar, you’ll have opportunities to apply your talents to a wide variety of areas such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Aero/ Thermal and Performance, Combustion Engineering, Materials & Processing, New Product Introduction, Product Development, Sustaining Products, Development Test Engineering, Gas Compressor Engineering, and more.

Engineering departments have the responsibility for defining and executing the plans for the development of the technology and process requisites to meet current and future product requirements, implement this technology in approved product development programs, and provide appropriate production and field support as required.

Manufacturing Departments have the responsibility to work with Design Engineers to establish product definition/ specifications, create process planning instructions and work with various manufacturing processes to manufacture exotic gas turbine engine components. Manufacturing Departments are essential to the success of producing high quality, cost effective components using the latest manufacturing technologies coupled with Lean and 6 Sigma methodologies.

Design Engineering is responsible for turbomachinery product development and sustaining engineering which includes core mechanical technology development, product design, configuration control, product support and field service support. The department has the responsibility for effective planning, organizing and directing product development and maintenance activities.

Aero/Thermal and Performance is responsible for aero/thermal design, analysis, development, and production/overhaul/field support of gas turbine engine systems. The department integrates the activities of five technology disciplines - performance analysis, compressor aerodynamics, turbine aerodynamics, heat transfer, and computational fluid dynamics. Broad expertise in aero/thermal technology is also applied in support of design, analysis and problem resolution tasks resident in other functions.

Combustion Engineering has the primary responsibility for designing, developing, maintaining and introducing into production, combustion systems for all existing and future product lines. It also has the responsibility for developing the technologies to meet the emissions, fuel flexibility, durability, reliability, maintainability and other future requirements.

Gas Compressor Engineering This function is responsible for providing technical expertise to develop new products from concept through production introduction, resolve product problems and support sales and customer activities. The department staff skills include aerodynamic design and performance analysis, rotor dynamic analysis, mechanical design and drafting, test engineering, and project management. The department interfaces closely with Applications Engineering, Marketing, Firm Business Project Management, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Customer Services and Human Resources.

Product Development This function is accountable for the development, planning, organization, project management and execution of New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and promoting the processes of new product development and concurrent engineering. This function provides the NPI team leadership for the Mercury 50 program.
