In 2005, Caterpillar introduced Our Values In Action, an updated version of the 1974 Worldwide Code of Business Conduct. It drives us each and every day. Your Future: Learning and Career Development
At Solar, there are many exciting opportunities for employees to develop and grow. We believe in providing employees with tools that allow them to grow personally and professionally with management support. Our Learning and Development Department has established an extensive program to assist employees with their career development and learning objectives.
Employees can work with their manager to identify project assignments in which they can participate that will broaden their skills, or identify next job moves that will broaden their knowledge of Solar’s business or further develop their technical expertise in their functional areas. Additionally, employees can document a professional development learning plan based on their own needs and/or career plans by creating an Individual Development plan with their manager.
Ongoing Learning is a part of the culture at Solar. To assist employees in their professional development and in creating their own individual development plans, Solar offers both instructor-led and e-learning courses in over 60 topics, which range from communications to technical skills. Additionally, the Learning and Development department houses a Resource Library of books, videos and CD’s on a range of subjects that support career and personal development.
Solar’s tuition reimbursement program supports employees in acquiring advanced degrees and professional certifications. In addition, we encourage employee participation in professional association conferences, external seminars, and other development activities, such as participation in Toastmasters or professional association boards and committees.
